Colorado has a great system. I get a ballot in the mail, I can read it carefully, we get a blue book outlining the issues. I can mail it in or ride my bike to nearby drop box. I can track that it was tabulated through a web site or e-mail notification. It is paper, so it can be reliably audited. Everything is very secure and verified.

Other states require in person voting. Long lines, time out of work, pain in the ass to be a citizen. Hell, it is illegal to give water to those standing in line in some places. And that is on purpose. Like an internet poll, only the fanatics will vote.

Despite all the problems in the world and how the amazing civilization we live in could go down the tube someday, compared to the rest of human history ♫ these are the best of times! ♫

Maybe our leaders should be chosen by some other method, such as examination, appointment by a board, seniority gained in lower-level jobs or even by the casting of lots! THEN, after some time in office, the citizens can vote on whether or not they want to keep him.
