But the US economy outlook is very strong, and I was talking about long term investing.

The world will always have problems, but can you imagine the outlook for the world at the start of WW2? I'd say the global political situation then was orders of magnitude worse than now. The global economy has grown something like 1400 times larger since then, after inflation.

yeah, and you're dispensing investment advice.

War, civil unrest and geopolitical conflict are breaking out all over the planet. The global economy is in a death spiral. The population is over 8 billion and climbing. A wave of fascist thugs are overthrowing democracies all over the world, and the climate is going south, and you are recommending how to invest in the stock market.

The stock market just broke all records! Maybe the stock market and people who invest in it ARE the problem.

When the market takes a big dip like it did when Covid hit, that's when you buy an index fund. Investing 101. The markets are more than double what they were at their low in 2020. Predictions on the Dow are it will break 100k in five to ten years. The S&P is growing even stronger. Simple reason, interest rates are high and when they come down the economy will be really growing, especially in the currently weak real estate market. There will always be peaks and valleys, and of course there is no guarantees. An asteroid could hit the earth. But long term trends look promising right now.
