I understand your concerns about the timing of trying to break social barriers, and that is why I would definitely not want to see Harris pick Buttigieg for VP.

But I think she will inspire the youth vote and bring the women and black vote in huge numbers. She will have the full backing of democrats and has a good chance of grabbing a piece of the anti-Trump GOP voters. She won’t have the Gaza War stigma that was dragging down Biden. She’s a symbol of the pro choice movement. And as Tony mentioned, the myogynists and racists are already firmly in the Trump camp anyway.

There are a lot of positives and we have a lot more hope now than we did 2 days ago.

I have zero questions about her ability to do the job, I simply question her electability given the American bigotry which places women of color at the very bottom.

In other elections I might say go ahead and damn the consequences, to make a statement… not this election. Find a pair like Whitmer-Booker that polls the best and go with that… If we lose this election, there will not be a second chance.

The bigots aren’t voting for a Democrat period. There’s no way to win them back other than government making their life better, and even then they’ll rail against gubmint spending and the damn libs.

How will that coalition of bigots react to the prospect of a black woman president?

One with far less charisma than Obama…

Maybe I am wrong, God I hope so… but one lesson of the past 8 years I have learned is it doesn’t pay to underestimate the stupid, even self destructive, bigotry of my fellow citizens…

If I am wrong, you may make fun of mercilessly if she wins… I will be laughing alongside you…

Sure let’s toss aside a very qualified candidate for someone milquetoast with zero national recognition.
Let’s toss aside the Biden/Harris warchest that is practically bursting at the seams now.

Biden has already been tossed. Press and pundits took care of that. Kamala is the only option here. As a unity candidate, she is the only play that makes sense.

The convention needs to break with all tradition … if they toss Biden aside, and that may or may not be the right choice, then they must toss aside Kamala as well, a completely clean slate, picked only on the basis of the ability to beat Trump.

THAT is ALL that matters now…
