Never got close to fluency. I can read Spanish much better than I can speak it, listen to it or write it. But even there I struggle pretty badly. They say it helps if you have a musical ear and I could never play an instrument either. It did help growing up in Southern California though. I have restaurant Spanish down pretty good (and restaurant Japanese for that matter). I remember in high school often going down to a nearby neighborhood and asking "¿donde esta la mota?" I read an interesting article a while back about an American soldier who went back to Vietnam shortly after the war and stayed and lived there. It's free software for model rocket design. Tim was the first to market with his software called Rocksim. It preceded OpenRocket by almost 10 years. Needless to say, he wants no reference to OpenRocket. I'm going to edit the text and illustrations for Rocksim and send it to him. I don't want to buy Rocksim at the moment but will see if I can do it with their free trial. If not, I know a lot of Rocksim users that could help me. Ben spoke clear, fluent, unaccented Spanish with almost perfect command of grammar and Vocabulary. It turns out, while Ben was a kid, his parents spent some time in Latin America on business and he picked up the language! I think its hysterical that his squeeze, Jennifer Lopez, is a New York City born Puerto Rican who speaks only English.
