Trump is now calling for the elimination of the debt ceiling as a condition for supporting a budget bill.

Two points here, first is elimination of the debt ceiling is a very good thing that many democrats have advocated for years given the way republicans have used it as a weapon to hold the global economy hostage to their demands so many times. Second, Trump actually called for BREACHING the debt ceiling earlier in Biden's term, and subsequently wrecking the nation's credit and sending the world economy into chaos. This proves yet again this worthless shitstain cares only about himself and nothing about the good of the country.

A bipartisan compromise was agreed upon by both Democrat and Republican Congressmen to get past the upcoming budget crisis and potential government shutdown facing us in just a few hours. At the last moment, Trump disagreed and got Congress to torpedo the bill.

Once again, as with the border bill, a working solution to a major problem agreed to by both sides has been shut down AFTER an intervention by a man who has not even assumed office yet. The result gives us a guide as to how legislative issues are going to be handled in the future. At the last moment, a plan favorable to the moderates on both sides has been stopped so that the resulting crisis can be blamed on the outgoing administration. No doubt, after Trump assumes power on 20 Jan , the problem will be resolved in such a way that the Democrats and Biden can be blamed for whatever negative aspects occured due to the shutdown.

This sort of tactic, along with the strategy employed to delay Supreme Court appointments by Obama while moving last-minute appointments by Trump to the head of the line, is a look at things to come. Attempts to halt any attempt to combat these maneuvers will be frustrated by other actions already tested and employed: delays, ignoring subpoenas, refusing to turn over evidence, and simply refusing to honor court decisions and orders, or by the careful selection of friendly judges to rule on key cases. Eventually, as the government and people become de-sensitized to these tactics, they will eventually evolve to the point where officials will simply ignore the orders of law enforcement and publicly flaunt the public will and constitutional directives.

The right-wing press will artfully prep the electorate to accept this, while the left-wing press is threatened into silence by lawsuits and the threat of lawsuits. It is only a matter of time before these semi-legal actions are replaced with downright nonjudicial violence by the Deplorable militias and their enablers in Conservative think-tanks and political action committees and the rightwing press and lobbies. Eventually, all efforts to stop the process, whether legislative, constitutional or judicial, will simply be ignored and eventually, punished.

This is exactly how the Nazis consolidated their power 90 years ago. Its all in the playbook, it took Hitler only 6 months to do it. Let's see how long it takes Mr Trump. History may not repeat itself, but sometimes the tune, perhaps performed in a different key, is still hauntingly familiar.
