You, ER, myself, the author of the article in the OP, and many many others are examples of potential customers turned off by the way some companies do things. We weigh the pros and cons and make our economic decisions accordingly. If companies are losing their customers and still fail to change their ways, they go out of business. Something new and better will take its place. If it makes people not want to use the product or service, it will hurt the companies doing it in the marketplace. On Facebook for example, one thing that really bugs me is they have made the default viewing on responses to threads as "Most Revelant". You can select "All" and see all responses to that thread, but there is no way to permanently set it to "All" so it defaults to that everywhere. Another annoying feature is the auto refresh on the feed. For example, I see some blatant idiotic climate change denialism post, I open another tab and get the scientific proof to refute it, I click back and the feed refreshes and the post I was about to respond to disappears and cannot be found. I was away on the other tab maybe 2 minutes at most. What I want is control of ALL settings to prevent these and hundreds of other annoyances.
