I grew up in Pasadena and visit there twice a year still. To see pictures and video of the destruction there is heart wrenching. Similarly, I spent my summers as a youth on the beaches of Malibu, Zuma Beach and Point Dume. The "Burn it all" comment was a real dick punch. Again, I'm glad it was a misunderstanding and I'm sorry I responded harshly. Just realize these are people's homes and neighborhoods that have been wiped out. Fire zones exist all across the western third of the US. Houston built huge tracks of homes on flood plains. Midwest homes in tornado zones. Cities built on earthquake faults. Coastal towns in Tsunami zones. Homes near volcanos. New Orleans protected only by levies. The entire state of FL in the path of annual hurricanes. Residents of Malibu pay a lot for fire insurance.
