I cannot explain why some scientists go this route- for a while here at NASA we had a weather 'scientist' that issued press release after press release on developing weather systems- and ALSO used his NASA credentials when claiming to be a 'dead pet psychic'. If I were to use the fact I work at NASA to create and advertise my business, I would be prosecuted... that clown managed to keep his job a few years while appearing on Art Bell as a psychic that talked to your dead pets.... introduced as a 'Nasa scientist' absolutely inexcusable. His name was Rob Gutro... an absolute disgrace to NASA. He is gone now, long before the culling of the actual scientists at NASA.... I think he was allowed to retire. He should have been fired.
