Much of Hamas leadership lives in luxury in Qatar, while allowing their people in Gaza to suffer because they refused to release innocent hostages for two long years. Qatar likely wouldn't even exist without the US military presense in the Persian Gulf. Saddam would have taken them back in the early 90s. Iran would have taken them anytime since. We use Qatar as a middleman in negotiations with terrorist groups because the terrorists trust them.
