Now here is an interesting question. In the pre-Trump era Cheney was without question the worst the GOP had to offer. Often compared to Darth Vadar, he was behind the misinformation that led to the Iraq War. He was behind the "black sites" used for CIA enhanced interrogation (torture) around the world. He ran a secret presidency behind the scenes During the shrub years and destroyed all the records before leaving office. Just an overall bad guy on an extreme level. BUT, he was one of the few republicans to incessantly condemn Trump's crimes and policies. He never bowed to the Orange Menace to America. That he condemned Trump's lies about 2020 election fraud and Jan 6 showed that deep down he believed in the American system despite his own excesses. So who was worse? Dick Cheney or Elon Musk? Cheney whose policies and questionable legal actions made him the scorn of liberals and moderates, but who never kissed Trump's arse? Or Musk, who has advanced EVs and spaceflight so much so quickly, but who jumped on the Trump train throwing hundreds of millions at MAGA and slashing American science, R&D, safety net?
