Modern civilization would collapse without electricity. Billions would die within a year or so without it. It's a necessity in every sense of the word.

We lost power a couple years ago for 2 days. No fun at all.

We were without electricity for 11 days. We had prepared before the storm by doing all our laundry the day before, emptying our fridge, stocking up on food which could be eaten uncooked, and using our cold water for sponge baths (fortunately, our water service was not affected). The hardest part was doing without TV, computer and A/C for the whole time.

Our land-line was knocked out too, but our emergency drug-dealer flip-phone was rechargeable from our car.

But there was one positive aspect, it was the only time I ever saw the Milky Way from my front yard.

My storehouse having
burned down, nothing obscures my
view of the bright moon.
