The original, authentic Cuban Sandwich was invented in Tampa, the Cuban cigar workers of early XXth century needed a quick, fast lunch so they could get back to work.

The Miami version was a product of the Fidel Era exile community. There are cultural distinctions.

It was at a Cuban restaurant on Isla Mujeres. It was a pork dish with plantains and a few other vegetables. Starchy and not very favorable.
