I've never heard the word, and the auto-translator renders it as 'mote' or 'speck' (as in <em>'The Mota in God's Eye'</em>.

Took it one semester in my freshman year in college. Forgot most of it but I can still read it at about 50% accuracy. Growing up in Southern California I picked up a lot of restaurant and gutter Spanish.

la cuenta, por favor.

¿Donde esta la mota?

Yes it is an easier language by far than English.

The grammar is very logical and there are very few exceptions to the rules, conjugations, syntax etc. I learned it as a little kid, while I was learning English (which is highly illogical and filled with exceptions that have to be memorized). I can not remember ever not being bilingual.

And that's not because I am highly intelligent or have a talent for languages--kids are programmed to learn languages, a skill which rapidly fades as you get older. I have studied other languages as an adult with
no success whatsoever.

I saw a meme that read:

"When I watched Bad Bunny it made me wish I knew Spanish. That's how a mind works when it's not racist"

I loved this meme because it was exactly how I felt during the performance.

I just hate the obsession and fanaticism associated with it. It turns grown men into assholes. Sporting assholes, but assholes nonetheless.

I enjoy the mental aspect of the game, certainly in football, but especially in baseball. There is grace and elegance, too, and great athletes in action are a joy to watch, as are great dancers. The only exception is basketball--I understand the beauty and athleticism, but it just moves too fast and I don't understand the game well enough to follow it. I love to watch basketball filmed in slow motion!

You know I enjoy blue water yacht racing, and sports car road racing (yes, I think dragsters and Indy/oval track stuff is rednecky and puerile). Whenever any yachting or grand prix/formula events are on TV I love to watch. But if they were on 3 or 4 times a week I would quickly lose interest.

Yachting and road racing I've actually done myself, in a very amateur way, so I can really get into it, and I was a fairly decent corporate softball player back in the day...(infield). Yacht racing in tame waters like a bay (as in the America's Cup) is too much like drag racing or NASCAR. OTOH, racing sailboats across oceans in all kinds of weather is beautiful, but unfortunately, the cameras need to be on the boats to properly communicate the drama. Its a hard contest to film for the fans.

But all that "learning teamwork, leadership, discipline, resilience, strong social connections, self-esteem, and a sense of community" crap is what they pound into teen-agers to train them to be good little corporate drones, docile workers-and infantrymen. I want no part of that. It smells too much of teen spirit.

Sport is a lot like pornography. Its the athletic equivalent of watching other people having sex. A little bit every now and then is harmless, in fact, it might even be good for you. But when you are hooked on it and obsessed with it it is childish, if not downright pathological.

It was on, often with the sound off.

My team didn't make the game, by just three points, oh well, that's football.

I sort of watched the halftime show. The staging was excellent. To get all that out there in a commercial break and back out for playtime after? That is stage design of high order.

The music? Not my style, but I don't think the NFL is concerned with my fondness for Progressive Rock. I don't like rap, in any language. But the NFL knows who their audience is. Thought the dancing was a bit over the sexual top - or bottom - but whatever.

The message of community, culture, kindness, love, and joy did resonate.

There was a football game on either side? In between the commercials? I'll be damned.

You enjoyed the game!? A boring one at that? I thought you hated sports? Remember saying they have no redeeming value? No benefits, such as learning teamwork, leadership, discipline, resilience, strong social connections, self-esteem, and a sense of community? Not to mention physical fitness? Isn't every single athlete who ever lived just the stereotypical high school bully? (Actually, I think that last one was RL's argument.)

As for Bad Bunny, while I didn't understand what he was rapping (I read Spanish much better than I can listen, speak or write it), I enjoyed the vibe, the sound and the production values. I decided a couple decades ago I wasn't going to let the culture pass me by as I aged, and I started listening to Rap/Hip Hop. I enjoy it every bit as much as the rock and roll I grew up with. Although I have to say the Rap from the 90s was much more an expression of social statements than most of today's Hip Hop. From what I gather, Bad Bunny was making a social statement with his performance. Orale!
