Widespread praise by economists, business leaders, politicians and more for the Court’s decision to trash Trump’s idiotic tariffs are spot on. Tariffs fuel inflation and that is the one thing that could turn even his MAGA base against him. They certainly don’t give a rat’s ass about how badly tariffs disrupt global relations. But like it or not, free trade is a force for peace in the world because it forces nations to resolve differences without resorting to war. Trump’s on again off again tariffs have not only led to chaos for economic decision making on every level, but could send the world down the path Smoot-Hawley did nearly a century ago.

Where this decision will hurt most is the deficit, since these tariffs (taxes on Americans) would have helped pay for Trump’s Big Beautiful tax cut for his billionaire donors. The Orange Criminal POS will likely try to find a way to do an end run around this SCOTUS decision.
