America will wind up a second-rate nation, politically, economically, and militarily. The USA will not collapse, or disappear, but it will be reduced to one of a handful of nations with regional influence, but little global reach.

The good news is that the Republican party will not be able to survive, unless it resorts to brutal and tyrannical methods to hold on to power. This can’t be ruled out, of course, we’ve never been closer to fascism than we are right now. But hopefully, it won’t come to that.

What really scares me is that when the pendulum finally starts to swing the other way an extreme left-wing dictatorship will establish itself by exploiting all the excesses of the MAGA crowd and using all the techniques Trump has pioneered and made acceptable in American politics.
