Has a wonderful interactive museum that teaches science. Several hiking trails that lead up to the iconic Flatirons. Used to teach geology mapping classes up there. Huge property as well, worth a fortune in this market. Someone could make 100's of millions building houses up there. Bit of a problem, though. We have a law that the city will not issue building permits, nor supply water above a certain elevation, called the Blue Line. This is to preserve our beautiful skyline. NCAR was granted an exception when it was built, on the condition that it would always be NCAR. If it is sold, we'll cut off the water. If somebody thinks they can build a housing area up there then they don't have a clue about Boulder. It is an institution that we are quite proud of here in Boulder.
