I posted this on Off-Topic because of the interesting coincidence, otherwise it should have been on; hmmm come to think of it, where should it be on, it is happening currently, it is Earth related science, I could make flame of it towards the people that do not understand what they are doing to the planet, or I could turn it into a study of how the shaking of the earth’s crust affects the food supply of the surrounding animals.
But that is not the point, the point is simply that there seems to be a alternating increase and decrease in the number of earthquakes. At noon today, I looked at the number of earthquakes that were over magnitude 4 that have happened during the last 30 days, and it was 666, it used to be around 300, but that was before the big one that happened in Japan last year.
After the Japanese quake the number went well over 1000 for the same time period, then it went down slowly to around 400, now it seems to be increasing again.
