Sean O’Brian, head of the Teamster’s union, spoke at the RNC convention tonight.

He essentially read the riot act to the GOP, letting them know that the anti-union, anti-worker policies of corporate America would no longer be tolerated. That the American worker was hip to their scam and would no longer put up with it. But to be fair, he was also hard on the Democrats, implying that they were no better than the Republicans, and that the system of corporate meddling in politics was corrupt and impossible to reform. It had to be stopped altogether.

I have to confess, the man pretty much expressed my own political views. I’m amazed the Republicans let him speak. He received polite applause (it was hard to judge how many of the audience supported him) but I don’t think too many of his policies will be adopted.

I have no doubt the speech will wind up online. Try to track it down and listen to it, it is a righteous broadside like I’ve never heard before at a political convention.. O’Brien is a dynamic speaker and he makes sense intellectually and politically as well. And the Dems should make every effort to let him speak at their convention. They need to pay attention as well.
