I spent all day on Biscayne Bay with Gay Bob, on his Compac 16. We put in at Coconut Grove. N25-43.6, W80.-14.9 Sunny, temp in the 70s, E wind 15 knots, light chop. Eat your heart out, Yankees.

We saw a race of some hi-tech sailing hydrofoils, zipping around on the water at what looked like 30 or 40 knots. They had a trampoline outigger arangement and a trapeze harness rigged at the masthead so the lone pilot could hike way out for stability. From the sail logo, I believe they were International Moths.

About midday we hove-to and ate our lunch, recieving a visit from a pod of dolphins who seemed very interested in the fact that we were a sailboat under full sail going nowhere: underway with no way on.
And of course, we saw the usual cigarette boat. I think the economy, the price of gas, and aggressive smuggling enforcement, is finally driving them off the water.
A delightful day on the water, with ideal condions, but I ache all over. I feel like I’ve been in a fight. I’m getting too old for this shit.

Cold and rainy out here in California.
- Now what's wrong with cold and rainy? And yes, I AM playing that in addition to the actual rain outside. ...
