We spent Memorial Day riding our bikes all over town. There were 54,000 people running a 10K race; which is fun to watch. In addition, along the creek through downtown, there was a big fair, lots of art, food, and people watching.
Boulder, for some reason, is known for artists who stack stones in impossible piles. I’ve seen some really amazing piles, including free-standing arches. I posted a video of one of these artists several years ago. I don’t know if this is the same guy, but he’s pretty good. There were dozens of these stacks up and down the creek, the one shown is not the most impressive.
Another thing. The creek right now is really, really cold. Only twenty miles upstream, it’s snow. The artist must be chilled to the bone, otherwise known as “quarter-inch water”. However, with the temperatures warming, the 300% of normal snowpack will start to melt in ernest, and this art will fall back to being ordinary cobbles in the stream bed. That, and the innertubers will knock them all down.
