Got curious about that expression. While I’ve known what it meant from youth and never questioned it, the other day it just didn’t make sense.
Googled it. In Europe targets had white bulls-eyes, or centers. The French word for “white” is “blanc”. Therefore, if one is close enough to hit the bulls-eye without aiming they are at “point blanc range”, or point blank range.
