Breast Feeding Activists? September 15, 2012 9:11 am ER

A lady college prof just got in big trouble for breastfeeding her kid in class.

A few weeks ago, a group of moms did a breast feed-in at the White House.

What is wrong with this country? Its starting to look like a SNL skit.

And what’s the big deal about breastfeeding in public? I thought that’s been OK since Bible days. I used to see it all the time, but lately, it has become less common, I assumed because of the prevalence of cheap and nutritious baby formula.

When I was 7 or 8, my Mom plopped one out to feed my little brother at a restaurant in New York City. I had seen her do it at home all the time, and I had seen her use the breast pump, too, but I was concerned about her doing it in public and getting arrested. She told me that it was OK, that everyone understood it had to be done, and there would be no problem.

Sure enough, the other patrons didn’t seem to mind, no one gawked, and nothing happened. It was all perfectly natural and everyone seemed to be fine with it.
