Someone like Mitt Romney can be compensated $22 million a year and be regarded by Conservatives as having “earned” that much money and deserves it. Worked hard.
A fast food worker making a minimum wage strikes to earn more. There is no question the franchises are highly profitable, and no question that the workers put in their time and work hard. They are regarded by Conservatives as greedy bastards who are out to destroy all that is good in America.
Makes you wonder how people can have been raised to regard poor working people as greedy and the mega-rich as hard-working folks who earn their money. How do you instill that value system into a person? What must you do to them to have that view even make sense? Hell, some people who regard those working poor as greedy don’t even work themselves.
I realize that there are many Christian ministers who preach the same thing, maybe these folks are simply religious. That says a lot about Christianity.
I truly cannot understand this no matter how hard I try. And I do try. I like things to make sense even if I don’t agree with them.
