Damning with faint praise...giving the devil his due... March 28, 2014 7:48 am ER

…or giving credit where credit is due?

BOSTON (AP) – Former President George H.W. Bush has been named a recipient of the 2014 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for the political courage he showed when he agreed to a 1990 budget compromise that jeopardized his re-election bid by violating his 1988 campaign promise not to raise taxes.

I always liked Bush 41. I didn’t agree with his domestic political and economic agenda, but I admired his military service, his incredible resume and professional competence, his centrist and moderate governing style, and his military and diplomatic conduct of the First Gulf War.

Congratulations, George.
