Does anyone believe anything at all they hear about internet security? April 9, 2014 10:34 pm bowser

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/wp/2014/04/09/heartbleed-quick-change-your-password-using-these-tips/

“Quick! Change your password! Or don’t!

“There’s been a breach and this one’s serious. The bug has figured out how to obtain a copy of the metaphorical front-door keys to your data, to use whenever it wants. And people are very clear on one thing: you either should or should not change your password in response.”

It seems to me we are constantly reassured about internet security.  The clouds are secure, the connection to your bank is secure, and to stores, and so on.

It also seems to me that between the US government and hackers there is absolutely nothing secure on the ‘net.  Someone or other can read everything and anything they want to.  (Praise Obama!  God Bless America!  The Second Amendment forever!)

As fast as the reassurances can be made, some hacker finds their way in.  The last year I’ve had two debit cards cancelled because they were hacked at some store or another.  (These Colors never run!  May the Force be with the CIA!  Praise The Lord!)

I suspect my days of purchasing things over the ‘net is done.  I’ll find things and then complete the purchase by phone.  (My country ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty!  Oh, can you see, by the dawn’s early light – - – !  Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!)

And all power to the NSA.

(To anyone who hacked their way into this, I REALLY mean the things in parentheses.  Seriously.  You can trust me.  God Bless America, and all it’s bureaucracies.  Especially the military and intelligence people.  Hard workers, all, bright, deserve nothing but the best.  Underpaid.  And I do mean it.  Honest!)
