Why not here? June 13, 2014 10:20 am mcfly

Gun “control” (a flexible concept) exists in many places where the citizenry isn’t subjected to a government of armed thugs. Canada comes to mind. I grew up there and was never rounded up in the middle of the night by a jackbooted police squad. Not even once.

It’s certainly *possible* to own a gun in Canada. My dad had a hunting rifle. But then, he was an aircraft repair technician and often spent weeks in remote locations in the north, maintaining helicoptors. For him, owning a rifle made sense.

Anyway, the point is, Canadians live happily, peaceably and securely in a society that practices a moderate form of gun control.

Why can’t we? The very concept is mocked and dismissed in this country. Why?
