After seeing the latest episode of Doctor Who, I’m officially digging 12. Yeah, I miss Smith, just as I miss Tennant, but Capaldi’s bringing us a compelling new spin on the Doctor. His pain’s a little closer to the surface and he shows more than a little of 9′s stern, gruff demeanor. Yet the childlike curiosity and the genius (however tempered by age it might be) remain, as of course they must.

And the writing on this latest episode, “Listen,” was good…really good. It was a spooky little tale of unexplained noises and things almost glimpsed, but it also hints at possible story arcs that could texture the show for a long time to come.

Truly, the dog’s bollocks.
