I think Brooks is the son of comedian (EDIT) Albert Brooks.
The book is the story of a zombie apocalypse, but like Gulliver’s Travels is is considered a social commentary more than scifi . Hence, the reason I post this here as well as scifi.
The book is written as a series of interviews with survivors on how they survived and how the world defeated the Zombies
To give you an example of the biting satire, they refer to a class of living humans as quislings. These strange individuals are named for the French quislings of WWII who worshiped at the feet of the Nazis as they marched into Paris. Our quislings, in this instance, attempt to emulate the undead by adopting the zombie shuffle and moan. They will attack and even eat their fellow humans and while their bites are not fatal, they have caused some to be put down as infected before the quisling is identified as a non-zombie.
Of course the zombies are not fooled by the pretenders. They attack and eat them as soon as they wander too close. When this happens the quislings never scream or complain, they simply allow themselves to be eaten.
Check it out at Amazon or any book site, it’s a five star read.
