Well, I hate to admit it, but Tovarisch Putin has cleaned my homeboy Obama’s clock big time.
The Russkis get to wipe out Assad’s enemies (and our friends), keep the SOB in power, and they don’t have to worry about risking rubles, bombs, planes and pilots against ISIS, we are doing that for them. The Ukraine is their neighbor, there’s not much we could have done about that, but this is where we have a big stake and lots of assets committed.
We are the world’s laughing stock, our mid-east allies are pissed at us, our enemies are gloating, and refugees are overwhelming Europe. I don’t have a clue what we can do about it, or what we could have done to prevent it, but that’s not the point. That’s why we have a President, its his play and he fumbled the ball. And that’s why we pay him the big bucks. This is a disaster.
The situation is now very unstable, and could erupt into a world war at any moment, purely be accident. Or deliberately, by some irresponsible actor.
Try as I may, I can’t find a good side to this.
- the good side
- One small thing I'd like to see
-
The upsides.
-
You'd think the Russians would have learned their lesson in Afghanistan.
-
Why this is better left to those who can do it.
-
Horrific...humanitarian workers, patients and children
-
Things like that happen in war.
-
Yeah, but, no one is shooting back. No fog.

We are all in this together, ER.
