Instead of incorporating those ideas of The Donald which could fit a Republican platform, by trying to eliminate him as a viable force they are alienating a hugely significant portion of their base.  I can’t imagine anything dumber than throwing away the support of almost half of your electorate.  Whether they like it or not, Trump is attractive to more Republicans than any other candidate.  They should deal with that, acknowledge it and incorporate that which is tolerable.

As they go about it now they are committing suicide.  One watches their machinations and marvels at how damned dumb Republicans can be.  Only if Trump selects Palin as his VP nominee could my opinion be lower.
