If you don’t follow football, or professional sports, or any sports this is the place to post a pious opinion as to what a waste of time and resources it is. I won’t argue it, in fact may agree. I just choose to waste some of my time and resources on them. And if you don’t, hooray for you. And this isn’t about football or professional sports.
It’s about a superb football player who is overtly, blatantly and demonstrably Christian. He is not afraid in the least to demonstrate his faith, or speak about it.
However, he does not proselytize and does not condemn sinners. He is a bit “in your face” with his kneeling and praying, but no more objectionable than the sack dances routinely performed by other football players, especially the ones by linemen who are behind 60 – 0 and finally tackle the quarterback. (They are obnoxious.)
And a lot of people keep attacking they guy (Tebow). They make fun of his faith, a lost game is demonstration that he’s being ridiculous, and he’s a glory hound. Any sort of nonsense they can come up with. None of which says anything about Tebow or his religion, but a lot about the folks like Maher, whom I usually enjoy, as cited at the top of this post.

Probably the best college football player since Roger Staubach.
I doubt he will have a long or illustrious pro career.

Maher is basically a dick.

Maher can be a dick. He isn't a dick, but can be.
