I wonder. January 14, 2012 1:36 pm bowser

The ongoing saga of the Renda, a Russian tanker, trying to reach Nome, Alaska, with the assistance of the Healy, an American Coast Guard icebreaker is a bit dramatic and fun to follow.  Here is wishing the Renda, Healy and Nome the best.

I wonder if a debt isn’t owed the Soviet space station Mir for starting an era of more cooperation and trust.  I realize cooperation had been going on for a while, but the US had to trust the Russians when the Shuttle made it’s way to Mir.  And vice versa.

Not a ditch I’ll die in, but it is nice to see that particular convoy making its way to Nome.  (And, yes, I’m sure the Russian ship is making money on the deal, as it should.)
