The Republicans are now arguing, publicly, that the president can do any abuse of power to advance his chances of re-election as long as he believes his re-election is what is best for the nation.

Abuse of power is no longer impeachable. (Of course this only will be the case if the president is Republican).

Conspiring with foreign governments to influence our election is fine as long as it advances Trump’s election chances, because he IS the nation. What is good for him, therefore, is good for the country.
