Which candidate is the media rooting for? That’s a trick question.
The media doesn’t want anyone to win, or even to move to obvious front-runner status, until the very last possible moment. The more prolonged and suspenseful the race the better.
The media is in the business of milking stories for all they’re worth, that’s what they do for a living, attract advertisers by selling them eyeballs.
That goes for any story, but in political news it is even more so because those being reported on are also paying customers: the politicians are also buying vast amounts of advertising. The media collects twice. It is in their interest to drag the race on, and delay its resolution, as long as possible.
You need to know this because the media will be blamed for all the bad news, especially by those who don’t want anyone else to hear it.
The media is a business, follow the money. It’s all you need to know.
