This is a good time to remember not just the tragic loss of the WTC people and property. (Terrorism – deliberately killing innocent men, women and children.)
It’s a good time to remember that dropping the two atomic bombs on Japan was terrorism. (Deliberately killing innocent men, women and children. The heinous sneak attack against Pearl Harbor was a military operation against a military objective.) The firebombing of Japan and Germany was classic terrorism. (Deliberately killing innocent civilians, again.) Agent Orange in Vietnam. (Chemical warfare deliberately poisoning and destroying the food supply of innocent men, women and children.) ”Shock and Awe”, a bombing attack against an entirely innocent country, killing innocent men, women and children in an attempt to reduce innocent military personnel, men, women and children into quivering masses. (I wonder how many Americans would like their children subjected to that torture? How militarily effective it was having those kids scarred?) Using Remotely Piloted Vehicles to destroy schools, weddings and vehicles attended by and occupied by innocent men, women and children.
The US is quite possibly the perpetrator of more terrorism than any other nation or nations on Earth. The US is a victim of both terrorism from others and it’s own terrorism. We are what we hate. The more we claim we are only emulating the badguys the more of a badguy we have become.
We won’t remember any of that, of course, but it would be a good time to do so. Those with an ability to deny reality will deny it, even. And if our nation were ever going to return to greatness it would courageously remember, learn and change.
