Nobody ever expects...The Pluto Anomalists! October 7, 2015 5:24 pm Robert

What, you didn’t anticipate that the usual suspects would latch on to the New Horizons images and anomalize the beejezus out of ‘em?

A respectable article on sci-new.com unveiled some images of the moons Hydra and Nix released by one of the investigators (i.e. not officially released through the New Horizons site yet). Here’s Hydra, from far far away:

And in the comments we hear the full-throated cry of the Anomalist Loon:

Couldn’t they sharpen them up a little? There is software & techniques out there to bring out more detail. Here I super enhanced hydra a bit – - Amazing. http://unclegadget.com/psk/index.php?topic=55.63

How many times have I read an anomalist excitedly showing those idiots at NASA what a gifted amateur can accomplish with Microsoft Paint. I knew what I’d find at the end of that link.

And here it is, your moment of anomalous zen:

Oh, sorry, Uncle Gadget’s a bit paranoid, and the image URL turns out to have contained a unique code tagging me and me alone, and you can’t see it, nyah nyah nyah. Paranoid much, Uncle Gadget?

To see what I’m ranting about, you’ll have to circumvent his clever copy protection by actually visiting Uncle Gadget’s page and scroll to the bottom.
