Spare no Expanse December 5, 2015 3:15 pm ER

I just watched the first episode online. Excellent! Great acting, plot, effects, atmosphere, art direction. Superb! If they can keep up that level of quality throughout the rest of the series it might just reboot the space program.

This is what I imagined mankind’s future in space would be like when I was a kid, updated with the kind of tech we can foresee today but was unimaginable in the 50s and 60s. But that was before I got a few years under my keel and got a chance to see how the world really works. Right now, I can’t see government, business or the public sticking to space long enough to make it happen. Yeah, we’ll have plenty of political intrigue to look forward to in our future, but I’m afraid it will all collect at the bottom of our local gravity well. A Martian Republic, ice mining in Saturn and asteroid belt manufacturing is within our reach, but I doubt we’ll have the cojones as a species to pull it off. I’m starting to think we peaked in the Renaissance.

This is great SF. For those of you who have missed it so far, catch the first episode online, and follow the series when it gets rolling in a few weeks. I think it will last for multiple seasons. This has been called “Game of Thrones” in space; I think its “Rome” in space. I highly recommend it. And by the way, who’s the girl who does the zero-g sex scene? Does anyone know the actor’s name? I can’t find it anywhere. I really do think I’m in love, where do I sign on as crew? In the absence of gravity, I might be able to keep up.
