$30? March 3, 2023 8:00 pm podrock

So, I find an article that references a paper in a journal, a famous publication, and gosh I’d love to read it. I click, and there’s the abstract, the tease, but to read the actual article?

Thirty fucking dollars.

Really? Look, I wouldn’t mind having some sort of online payment system where I could pay a buck or two to read a paper as opposed to a stupid subscription. I don’t want a subscription. I just want this one thing.

I can order a print copy for 15 dollars. Really? For like a dozen pages of print?

Have you seen what textbooks go for these days? I looked. A typical intro geology book can be nearly $200.

That’s insane.

Edit: Maybe I just go to a bookstore or the library and read it there?
