it just occurred to me... June 29, 2023 6:02 pm ER

it might be useful if someone collected all those wonderful wildlife and nature documentaries and transcribed them into some ultra-simple, easily decoded digital format so that people in the far future could get a visual impression of what nature was like in the past. Our grandchildren may have no idea what the Serengeti was like, or the rain forest, or a coral reef.

While we are at it, it might be a good idea to put together in a secure vault a series of durable textbooks with basic science concepts, systematically building up to more advanced science. The future may not be able to build spacecraft, or giant telescopes, or computers, or particle accelerators…or microscopes. They shouldn’t have to go back and start from scratch.
