Who is LinkedIN? April 19, 2012 10:18 am ER

LinkedIN is continuously sending updates to my Yahoo email account. Said updates consist of messages from people I don’t know, about issues I don’t care about. But they keep coming in. LinkedIN appears to be some kind of Social Media, but its not quite clear to me exactly what they are.

There appears to be no way of shutting off this stream of white noise by unsubscribing. I never subscribed in the first place.
