What in the Constitution could possibly bar gay marriage? July 31, 2012 6:59 pm bowser

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/07/31/13055550-prop-8-backers-ask-supreme-court-to-review-gay-marriage-ban?lite

If one is not going to discriminate against minorities, one doesn’t prevent those minorities from doing what other minorities or the majority does.  I wouldn’t think.

While at first I found the idea to be rather repugnant, over the years it seems to be not only reasonable but inevitable.  Legally speaking.  I cannot think of a rational reason for objecting.

Even irrationally, the Bible isn’t the law of the land and it’s the instrument which allegedly holds marriage sacred.  And yet most denominations allow divorce.  So much for the sacrosanct nature of marriage even on religious grounds.  Marriage is spoken of as sacred, isn’t treated as sacred.  Divorce abounds, philanderers are forgiven, and marriage is often treated as a convenience, not anything with sanctions from either Church or God.  With enough money anyone can buy an annulment even in the Roman Catholic Church.
