NASA’s new heat-resistant material could enable astronauts to extract metals and oxygen from Moon rocks, revolutionizing lunar exploration.

The primary application of the new material is in lunar resource extraction technologies. NASA envisions systems capable of melting Moon rocks to isolate metals and oxygen, which could then be used for constructing habitats, manufacturing tools, or producing rocket fuel.
