They couldn't stop Romney at the convention. September 18, 2012 9:59 am ER

But its still not too late for the GOP to get a more viable candidate.

The GOP leadership, Big Buck$ guys and punditerati could put pressure on him to withdraw from the race, and Ryan anointed as his successor. A new, moderate, Republican could be selected for VP, like Jeb Bush, to give the ticket “balance”.

Its a testament to where we are today and how far we’ve come that this Florida Democrat now thinks of Jeb as “moderate”.

Anyway, it would give the campaign new life, invigorate the base, negate the Romney inconsistencies, contradictions, gaffes, flip-flops, and etch-a-sketch moments, and focus the press on the GOP in a way they have been unable to do. And the Dems would have to completely overhaul their whole strategy.

Just a thought.
