My old flatscreen monitor was getting eccentric. It wouldn’t come on when I woke the computer up. Black screen. The first time this happened, I thought my computer had flatlined (ARGH!) By habit, I typed in the unlock password, and heard the little “welcome” chime. Whew.
Turned the monitor off, turned it on, it’s back. This goes on for a while, until I have to start unplugging it to make it come back. This morning, it was down for the count.
Off to buy a new monitor. Keep in mind, I got this one surplus. Last new monitor I bought was a Hitachi SuperScan 800. With a picture tube.
Fact was, most of them were pretty much the same. I picked one out with the right interface, full resolution, and splurged by upgrading from 22 inch to 23.
Fry’s guy says, “we got a deal going. Buy a monitor, get a printer for 20 bucks” (Actually 70 bucks with a 50 buck rebate). Sounded good. I didn’t need one, but my kids might. Mailed the rebate when I got home. Ha! They thought I’d forget, lose the receipt, or toss out the box, didn’t they?
My new wider screen. Maybe I should start being more expansive…
