Nuclear power and decreasing sperm quality?

Sperm quality declines ‘severe’ in France

Global decreases in sperm concentrations noted in previous reviews

From:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/health/story/2012/12/05/sperm-decline.html

France is at the cutting edge of nuclear power generation.

http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/inf40.html

They also have 220,000 tonnes of depleted uranium and some reprocessed uranium stockpiled.

They generate 63,130 Mwe net, of electricity and they are building more nuclear power plants.

Could these things be contaminating their environment with radioactive elements?

Could radioactive elements be responsible for decreasing sperm quality?

From:

http://www.fas.org/nuke/intro/nuke/radiation.htm

“When energetic radiation passes through matter, many complex processes occur including Compton scattering, photoelectric excitation, Auger electron emission, and pair production caused by photons; ionization caused by charged particles; and various nuclear processes caused by neutrons. Neutron-induced reactions can stimulate the release of charged particles and photons.”

I do not have a definitive answers to the above questions, but if I assume that there is a link between the poor quality of sperm and increase in radioactivity, then I can extrapolate on the eventual outcome.

Extrapolation.

Radioactive element content will increase in the human population, specifically in the people that work in the nuclear industry.  The radioactivity will affect these people first and then, as the contamination spreads it will sterilize the rest of the people that understand and control the nuclear industry, The contaminated people will not be able to have offspring, causing the intelligent and knowledgeable people to decrease in numbers and eventually to die off completely.

The result will be that all the nuclear power plants will develop the  <a href=“http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/china+syndrome“>China syndrome </a> causing massive atmospheric contamination of radioactive elements.

If any humans survive such a catastrophe then they will be living in a very radioactive environment, such condition will last for thousands of years, and the (not so smart) people will be without electricity or other technological conveniences until they become smart enough to repeat the whole process.
