Autoentropic yard art anomaly September 15, 2013 1:50 pm ER

Something has pushed over one of my yard decorations. It shattered on the porch tiles. It was a large clay pot (we originally got it as a planter but never used it) that was placed on top of one of the big concrete uprights that make up the decorative rail in front of my porch.

I don’t see how it could possibly have happened. The damn thing is heavy, about 20 pounds, It was carefully placed in the center of the upright, there’s no chance it could have been nudged over the edge, there was plenty of room to spare. It was also squat and wide, I can’t imagine how it could have tipped over.

This happened in broad daylight, on a windless day, just a few minutes ago, in fact. I don’t think it was vandalism, we have another just like it at the other end of the porch and it was not touched. If I had been a vandal I would have taken both of them out. I suppose it might have been a large animal or something that tipped it over, but that is just stretching coincidence. A bird or rodent wouldn’t have been big enough to move it.. Its been there for almost a year and it has never been moved before.

I went to the store earlier, and brought in some groceries, but if I had accidentally bumped into it I certainly would have noticed; besides, it was very heavy, I would have heard it crashing and breaking on the porch tiles if I had brushed up against it. Besides, I have gone out several times on the porch since I got back from shopping and I would have noticed the mess.

Any ideas?
