Orbital Sciences cargo vehicle docks with ISS September 30, 2013 8:24 pm TB

The second private launch company to do so (the other being SpaceX).

This makes two competing private launch companies capable of carrying cargo to the Space Station. Only the SpaceX capsule is recoverable.

The article also has details on the successful launch of the upgraded SpaceX Falcon 9.

Three companies, Boeing, SpaceX, and Sierra Nevada are developing systems to launch astronauts to the ISS for NASA, something the Russians currently hold a monopoly on.
