IE sucks October 7, 2011 11:34 pm Eri

My McAfee has periodically had a “Your Computer Is At Risk” message. I’d shut down and reopen and all was OK. Then came a time it wasn’t. Meanwhile I’m trying to figure out what the hell gives and no luck. I spent two hours on it till about 1:30 a.m. yesterday morning. It wasn’t a virus so I wasn’t super, super worried and it wasn’t a worm. It was some kind of tracking cookie.

I finally got into chat with McAfee, and the tech did a remote control and basically cleaned out IE and restarted it with the defaults in effect. Somewhere I had evidently picked up a tracking cookie that was jamming up my works. Damned Microsoft shit.

I don’t have problems like that with Firefox. I also hardly use IE for anything so I still can’t figure out where the hell that tracking cookie came from.

Anyway, I’m back in business with a happy little computer.

    • I think it was more complicated than that. For some reason, My McAfee wasn't able to reach McAfee online ... by Eri 2011-10-09 01:02:36
