Cruz'n for a bruise'n July 21, 2016 7:56 am SDG

I’ve never been a fan of Ted Cruz. However, since I’ve complained a lot about spineless republicans rolling over and endorsing the Donald like an abused spouse trying to appease an abusive husband, I need to give Ted some credit for being his own man.

One could argue that it was a calculated risk. If Trump goes down in Flames come November, Ted can say “I told ya so” and be ready to (shudder, is this really the best we can do?) take over the party for 2020.

However, his “vote your conscience” speech was pretty damn good, and was preaching to the choir here. There are republicans that didn’t boo in the convention and many more who didn’t boo from home. Trump has divided the party like no other. Hillary hate is the baling wire holding the GOP together. While Trump has fired up the worst of the right in record numbers, he has done so by disgusting the rest of us. The Hillary hate might be enough for him to squeeze out a win, but I doubt it.

My money is on Hillary. But my vote isn’t for the same reason it isn’t for Trump. We have two of the most despicable candidates ever. I don’t think I can leave the top ticket blank, but I haven’t decided on who my protest vote will go to yet.
