A generation of vipers... July 29, 2016 10:21 am ER

Let’s face it, we’re a bunch of old farts here on the Zone, and we all have our prejudices against what my friend Roger calls “youth persons”: the Gen X, Y and Z people, the Millennials.

Ok, we joke about them, complain about their short attention spans, their infatuation with technology, their bizarre sexual habits, cultural preferences, political behavior and their peculiar and distributed sense of online community.

Its natural for older people to complain about the younger generation, I can point out examples from 3rd century Athenian drama, and I certainly recall how my own parents’ generation bitched about me and my contemporaries. I often catch myself uttering some of the same criticism about young people today as “the greatest generation” did about the Boomers. Other than the fact we definitely had better music, (something even youngsters today grudgingly admit) how much of this criticism is justified, how much is good-natured ribbing, and how much is really unfair?

This question is totally subjective, it has no true answer. I’m just interested in your comments.
